Genus: Avicularia

Origin: Tropical rainforests of South America, such as Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil.

Habitat: Arboreal species. They build silken tunnels in tree hollows, under tree bark, and in dense vegetation. They prefer humid and warm environments.

Diet: In nature, they feed on insects, crickets, cockroaches, and other small invertebrates. In captivity, they should be fed live insects of appropriate size. Juveniles should be fed weekly, and adults every 7-10 days.

Characteristics:
Size: Medium to large-sized tarantula. Leg span is about 13-15 cm (5-6 inches).
Lifespan: Females can live 7-12 years, males 3-4 years.
Appearance: Adults have a purplish body and distinct pink tips on their legs. The abdomen is usually covered with long, shiny pink hairs. It is a fast-growing species that weaves extensively.
Temperament: Fast and shy. They are generally not aggressive and prefer to flee when threatened. Despite being a New World species, they do not possess urticating hairs. Their venom is considered mild. Not suitable for beginners.
Care: As an arboreal species, it requires vertical living space. Provide climbing surfaces such as cork bark tubes or bamboo. The substrate should be moist but not overly wet. Ensure proper ventilation and a water dish. Temperature should be 21-27°C (70-80°F) and humidity 70-80%.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Yes, all species available in our offer come from verified sources and are safe for home breeding. We do not sell species with venom that is life-threatening to humans.

We use special, secure packaging that protects the animal during transport. Shipping is carried out according to the highest standards, so that the spider arrives in perfect condition.

Every spider needs an appropriate terrarium with proper substrate, a hide, water, and ventilation. In the product descriptions, you will find guidelines regarding the requirements of each species.

We do not recommend direct contact. Spiders are animals for observation, not for touching. For their safety and your comfort, it is best to limit yourself to admiring them in the terrarium.

Adult tarantulas usually only need to be fed once every 7–10 days; younger ones more often. Their diet consists of feeder insects such as crickets or cockroaches.

This is a normal phenomenon – especially during molting. Spiders may not eat for several weeks, or even months. The most important thing is that they have access to fresh water and peaceful conditions.
